A hardy mid-ground plant which has to be pruned regularly to keep compact. Low nitrates with high phosphate will make the plant reddish.

This plant requires bright light. Iron dosing along with regular fertilization will make this plant take on a maroon coloration.

Rotala wallichii 'Mexicana'

Very Bright Light, CO2 injection and adequate nutrient dosing is required to bring out the red color.
